Nice to have a week off...
I was at a finance conference this week and one of the most interesting items I heard was a dinner discussion of "best project I ever worked on". One auditor said that his favourite project of all time was travelling to the James Bay Hydro project area (cariboo and all). I wish the 2 groups who are studying James Bay Phase One could have been there.
Also heard about anticipated trends in the American and Canadian economies--trends that affect northern Canadian communities. And finally, chatted briefly with another professor who doesn't require essays. Instead, his Urban Planning students-at Ryerson--prepare a staff report for "Mayor and Council". Sounds just like our issue notes.
For October 2nd: see notes below on the Plan Canada Population article in your course pack (Census Canada 2006 results--this isn't just "stats". It's critical commentary on communities that are decreasing in size.) This article and the Dew Line article from the course pack are on the mid-term. See you on Thursday (October 2nd) for a full discussion on population change in northern Canada.
